The small screws have a non-standard head - neither slot nor cross-head. I did eventually find that I have a screwdriver bit that works, but that was very unsatisfactory. The need to remove the plastic pieces near the top corners that were used by my previous blind (a spring roller blind) was not explained, but luckily I had ordered the extra parts to receive the new blind. It was not nearly so easy to fit as the various ones I have had from Velux before.
