Only just received and installed product so difficult to say how durable product is but it's doing a good job in significantly reducing heat and glare from hot sun. I'm not a proficient DIY person but even I managed to install it albeit I had to search for an online video on Velux site to compliment instructions that came with package. My Velux window opening extendable pole has a handy hook on the end to control the shutter on blind.
