Terrible experience from the moment I walked in the door. I came in with a Bartholins cyst that needed treatment. I’ve had mild ones before and they’ve always gone away on their own after about a week or so. I had had this one for about a month but it had not gone away and no at home treatment was working. About a week ago it became large and inflamed and painful but my PCP didn’t have any availability until the following week. Sunday the pain was very high and I couldn’t wait to see my PCP so I came to this Urgent Care. I had checked in online and filled out the notes section that said why I was coming in. When I spoke to the receptionist she looked at my online check in and said “You’re here for your covid rapid test?” No, I was not and my notes clearly stated why I was there. She then told me to have a seat. I waited for about 45 minutes when she called me up and said she forgot to give me my paperwork to fill out. I told her I filled it out online and she said she couldn’t find it. So I sat back down to fill out this paperwork and I was sitting in the corner on the wall where the door to the back area is. As soon as I sit down and start filling out the paperwork, the door swung open and a man called for me. I stood up and started walking over (it’s literally like five steps away) and he said my name again but louder and annoyed this time. I was walking towards him already but he had absolutely zero patience. I was put into an exam room where I waited another 15 minutes for the doctor. Once he came in he said he would need to go back and find a female chaperone for an exam and we would go from there. 15 more minutes and he came back with a woman so he could do the exam. It was the least comprehensive exam I’ve ever had. Barely touched the area and then told me that it was red and definitely a Bartholins cyst. Which I knew and is why I came in. He told me they wouldn’t drain it or put in a catheter because they only had one catheter and they only get on in every 2-3 weeks. I guess they were saving it for a more important patient. The doctor told me to to follow up with my gyno and he sent me home with paperwork that said it was a cyst that wasn’t infected but also a prescription for antibiotics. I left feeling extremely frustrated and expressed my frustration to the nurse who also didn’t really care. When I was paying for my visit, the guy taking my card noticed the doctor hadn’t even signed my prescription paper so another 10 minutes waiting for that. Also just a side note, why do you ask my preferred pharmacy if you’re not going to send the script via epresribe and instead going to make me take a physical copy of the script? Finally got to see my PCP this week and she did an exam and immediately gave me an urgent referral for a catheter to drain this large egg sized cyst. I was referred to go there by a friend who lives down the street. She also had a terrible experience there a few weeks ago however it was the closest one available and I needed.. urgent.. care.. I am so very disappointed in the patient care from this facility.
We were from out of town and let the doctor know that. He gave a prescription and I specifically asked where I could fill it because I did not know where would be open on a Saturday early evening. He just said any CVS, no other assistance or info. After an hour of searching, driving to locations etc we found a Walgreens open 24 hours a day. He could have assisted more or asked a nurse or someone to assist us since we knew nothing about the area. It was a very very frustrating experience.
